Grandma's Biscuits

Or, at least pretty darn close!

My Grandma used to make the most awesome biscuits!  Just thinking about it brings back some great memories.

Mr. Sojourner has been asking some biscuits so I pulled out the King Arthur Cookbook to search for a recipe.

(Great for cooking from scratch!  It has come in really handy for me.)

All American Baking Powder Biscuits:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 to 4 tbsp. sugar
4 to 6 tbsp. butter or shortening
1 cup milk (or buttermilk)

Preheat oven to 425*.  Mix together dry ingredients.  Cut in butter or shortening until mixture looks like bread crumbs.  Add the milk and quickly and gently mix for about 20 seconds until dough is soft.  You can either: drop by spponsfulls onto a lightly floured baking sheet, fill greased muffin tin about 2/3 full, or roll until 3/4 in. thick and cut biscuits with round cookie or biscuit cutter and place on cookie sheet.  Bake 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.

This one did it.  Everyone was happy.

Kind regards,
